Tests

So a week ago I was sent to the lab for tests. As you might expect blood drawing is not as fun as a phlebotomist may seem to think it is. On any given blood draw the blood suckers can poke me at least four or five times. Rolling veins they call them. They also say that I have a lot of those flappy things...valves...in my veins. Every time they entered the needle in what they considered a "good vein" they struck one of these valves. This is apparently a problem as they can not draw blood and have to redo the whole thing.

Now, after several years of this, I have learned to express to all blood suckers that I am a hard stick. Before I continue I call them blood suckers as a term of endearment and respect, its easier to spell than phlebotomist (know or at least quicker). Anyway I get my blood drawn they test my thyroid and my A1C. For those of you who don't know, an A1C is a test that measures the blood glucose over a period of time. It tests to see if you have been excreting large amounts of insulin usually over a 3-6 month period. a goo A1C is bellow 5% and anything above 6.5% is worrisome for doctors. Turns out they lost my blood so I had to return for this test. So they redraw, out of my hand again, and the test shows me at 6.4%. So now what....am I a pre diabetic, or do they just say its type 2?
